Gombe National Park, located on the shores of Lake Tanganyika in western Tanzania, is renowned for its population of wild chimpanzees. Covering only 35 square kilometers, it is one of Tanzania’s smallest national parks, yet offers a unique opportunity for primate trekking. The park became famous through the pioneering research of Dr. Jane Goodall, who studied chimpanzees here since 1960. Gombe is also home to other primates, such as baboons and red-tailed monkeys, as well as a variety of bird species, making it a haven for wildlife and nature lovers.
